Well, actually, YOU did it(!)
Did what? Got to the grand total of 100 subscribers for the Plant Cuttings blog.
That achievement was achieved in the week ending 24th August 2024. But, ever-cautious Mr P Cuttings was concerned that he might lose a subscriber or two, and chose not to announce it until the 30th August posting to see if that number still held, and was therefore a legitimate cause for celebration. It did, and it was.
I know that a hundred’s not that many when compared to some of the huge numbers following some blogs or accounts on Twitter [I signed up to Twitter, not X, so that’s what I’ll continue to call it…], TikTok, Bluesky [@plantcuttings.bsky.social], Whatever (see e.g., here, here, Shelley Walsh, Fabio Duarte). But, it means a great deal to me. So, a really big THANK YOU to all of you who’ve subscribed to this site!
However, having now achieved that particular milestone, I won’t be resting on my laurels (a suitably botanical idiom (Anthony O’Reilly) for this site). I need to keep spreading the word about the blog and encouraging even more to subscribe to it. Any suggestions as to how I can achieve that will be much appreciated. So, do let me know.
Does having 100 ‘followers’ means that I’m now officially a social media (Maya Dollarhide) ‘influencer‘, or whatever the appropriate phrase is? I don’t know. But, it does suggest that the site is doing something right – in its own small way. And if part of that is to influence the botanical literacy of the public – the site’s main goal, after all – that’s a good thing to be doing, and reason enough to continue to blog on this platform.
Here’s to the next 100!!
Cheers, and thank you again,
Mr P Cuttings
PS this is probably my shortest ever blog post(!) Don’t worry, next week’s is a decent length…
PPS If you’re reading this post but haven’t yet subscribed to the site, please feel free to do so. It’s free, and easily done from the bottom of the home page at https://plantcuttings.uk/. All welcome – particularly those who are simply ‘phytocurious’, and/or involved in teaching others about plants. Want to know a little more about the site before you sign-up? Information here should help.
PPS as of 5.00 pm BST on Friday 30th August, the total was 108 subscribers(!) Thank you!!
